Governor George R. Gilmer declares the 1829 act extending Georgia laws over Cherokee lands, adding parts to Carroll DeKalb Gwinnett Hall Habersham and Hall counties Alabama line to not ley notes. The proclamation urges enforcement and warns Indians and others against violating the act with penalties up to death for certain offenses.
Governor Everard Hamuroy proclaims Georgia now asserts state jurisdiction over Cherokee lands in the occupied territory within state limits. Citizens and nonresidents are warned to cease trespass and refrain from mining for gold or silver pending lawful occupancy, with strict enforcement by county officers. Date cited June 3, 1830.
Francis H. Cone announces he will regularly attend the Superior Courts of Richmond County. His office and residence are in Greensborough. Residents of Augusta in Greene, Morgan, Newton, Clarke, Oglethorpe, Wilkes, Lincoln, Talliaferro, Monroe, or Hancock counties may confer with him twice yearly on legal matters.
Public notice cautions that Ann Morgan should not be credited on any account without the husband’s express permission. The signer, Bli Morgan, disclaims authority over debts contracted by Ann Morgan.
