County Council Approves Flood Recovery Money
The county council in special session authorized funds totaling 15 670 37 to repair flood damage to bridges and roads including 3500 for Covington river bridge and 7500 for Perrysville grade. Judge Schoonover ruled after days of consideration on Aldyth Sheridan and America East two young delinquents from Covington Aldyth 17 America under 15. Aldyth to remain at Claremont state school until age twenty with leniency for reform while America is released due to youth first arrest and intent to reform. The girls were not jailed but kept under sheriff custody in the jail building with courtesy and care and the court sought the best path to avert a life of shame.

Shawnee Pioneer Hannah Orcutt Dies at 84 in Shawnee Township
Mrs. Hannah Jane Orcutt, aged 84, died Friday morning at her Shawnee township home from age related frailties. A longtime Attica resident, she leaves three children Simon Orcutt Mrs. Charles Hoagland and Mrs. John Kaler and John Orcutt. Funeral services were held Sunday in the Fountain Christian church with interment in Fountain cemetery.

Will Visit in Germany Weeks After Neighbor’s Plans

Musical Art in Mayday Cantata Fete in Colonnade
The Musical Art society staged a May Day cantata in the Colonnade Wednesday night for about 200 guests. The program opened with a reading of Tennyson’s May Queen, featured solos by Mrs. Nave Brady McFayden and Crigler, and crowned Mrs. Purnell queen of the May. Eight ladies in colorfully garlanded costumes performed a lively May pole dance, ending a colorful, highly praised evening of artful song and pageantry.

Dr James W McMullen Rites Set In Pine Village
Dr James W McMullen died at his Pine Village home after a stroke on April 21. He was 73, survived by wife Lattie Swadley McMullen, son John of Hammond and daughter Nettie Ale of Francisville, with another son Clarence in the West and late son Raymond. Funeral at the Pine Village Methodist church Saturday at 3:00 pm, burial in local cemetery. He served as teacher, physician, deputy prosecutor, notary, justice of the peace, town clerk, and editor. He was active in church work and regarded with high respect.
