Fall Festivities at Topeka Open Labor Parade
Topeka on Sept 29 opened a week of fall festivities with bright weather and crowded streets. The Labor Day parade featured the largest number of workers from A. T. and S. F. shops, including a huge locomotive and working miniature shops. Bands and merchants floated. a U.S. Army camp from Fort Leavenworth and Fort Riley joined the G. A. R. encampment as a key attraction, with firemen and a bicycle parade also surpassing prior Kansas displays.
