Resolutions of Respect for Brother William K. Straight

Straight born October 12 1818 Canandaigua New York who moved to Cass county Iowa in 1870 joined the lodge April 12 1896 and died October 1 1896. The record praises his truthfulness and orderly conduct and asks a copy be sent to his family and published for the world to know his memory and example to the brethren.

Philomathia Society Forms At Normal School

The literary society at the normal school was permanently organized as Philomathia Society with officers elected for four weeks. President Curry, vice president Harvey, secretary Max Crain, treasurer W H Allen. A Friday College Hall sociable supported football team funds and featured music readings and mandolin club.

Hanna Denies Letter Claiming Bryan Victory

New York Oct 6 Chairman Hanna denounces as absurd a report that he wrote a letter conceding Bryan’s election.
