Bar American Meats Crackdown Sparks German Trade Clash
Washington reports from Consul General Mason in Frankfort on German city measures to curb American meats. Freiburg officials demand certificates and post notices that U.S. inspections are superficial. Sausage makers drop American imports as local authorities reject U.S. certificates, harming Freiberg trade while Frankfort inspectors find meat wholesome. The action contrasts with steady Franksport oversight and German demand for stricter local validation.
