Foreclosure Sale Split Over Union Pacific Bid
Washington October 6 Attorney General McKenna held talks with ex Governor Hoadley on the Union Pacific foreclosure case. The government has not pledged to a $45 million bid but joined the suit to assure a high sale price with a $5 million deposit backing the committee’s guarantee. The sale is set for November 1 to the highest bidder. The Oct term of the Supreme Court opens next week with major cases including the Nebraska freight rate suit and the Joint Traffic Association appeal. Irrigation legislation and arid land reform are urged, with a push for a public land commission and forest land reserves. Glass standards and Masonry tensions in Canada headline other items.
