The Iowa Republican platform defends protective tariffs, gold and silver as legal tender, stable purchasing power, and wage growth under Republican leadership. It criticizes Democratic policies, cautions against McKinley era free trade faults, and supports prohibition moderation and temperance measures.
A historical classified style advert touts Swayne's Ointment for skin diseases including tetter eczema and itch with claims of clearing and whitening the skin. The Pan American bimetallic convention convened in Armory hall St Louis with A C Fiske of Denver opening remarks. Gov Stone and Gov Tillman of South Carolina addressed delegates while debates on silver, free coinage, and sectionalism began as the body formed committees and elected temporary and permanent leadership. Other items note tariff talks, court decisions, and police manhunt updates from Iowa Illinois and Nebraska.
