The features include a gold standard coinage of 2554 grains of gold 900 fine, gold redemption of treasury notes, and non-reissue except for gold. Plot to blow up sultan arrests reported in Constantinople

Charles Coghlan Dies in Galveston at 66

The English actor and author Charles Coghlan died in Galveston after a four week illness from gastritis. His wife was at his bedside. Remains will go to Prince Edward Island. Coghlan's career included plays such as Jocelyn and The Royal Box. He was near completion of Vanity Fair dramatization for his daughter.

Samuel H Elbert, Former Colorado Governor, Dies in Galveston

A Galveston dispatch reports the death of Samuel H Elbert ex governor of Colorado born 1838 in Logan County Ohio He was a Nebraska delegate to the 1860 Lincoln nomination and was named Colorado territorial governor by President Grant in 1878 He also served as Colorado supreme court chief justice after statehood in 1876.
