Broncho accident claims life of 15 year old William Miner

From Thursday’s Daily William Miner son of John Miner died at home on South Chestnut street after a broncho threw him on East Fifth near Oak. He suffered chest trauma and wind loss, improved briefly, then worsened and died. He was a tenth grade student. funeral at Presbyterian church tomorrow at 10 o’clock.

Court Convenes as Grand Jury Is Empaneled

Judge Thornell arrives from Avoca and opens court appointing the grand jury and first case assignments. The petit jury to be called tomorrow. Cass county bar honors John H Wood with memorial

The Cass county bar adopted a formal memorial for John H Wood praising his legal service, business sense, and public spirit. Born in England in 1834, he moved to Illinois, then Cass county in 1879, practicing law alongside lending and public work before passing October 1898. He leaves a wife, one son, two daughters, and strong respect from colleagues.

Death of Mrs Henry Hagan Near Atlantic

Mrs Henry Hagan wife of Henry Egan an old soldier living about five or six miles southeast of Atlantic died yesterday of typhoid fever after ten to fifteen days illness. Weak heart precipitated a convulsion that caused her collapse and death. Funeral will be held tomorrow with interment at Lewis.
