Funeral of Sacket Sears in Atlantic Church
The Atlantic community bid farewell to Sacket Sears with a 2:30 pm funeral at the Congregational church. Dr. E S Hill delivered the sermon praising his citizenship and Civil War service while noting his family of a wife, five daughters, and fourteen grandchildren, and acknowledging his long life filled with fraternal duties and community respect.

Funeral of John T Pierce and Masonic Rites Observed
Funeral services for John T Pierce were held at the Lewis Opera House on Thursday March 16 1899 conducted by Revs Evans Kneedy and Mercer with Masonic Knights Templar and other fraternal orders in attendance. Pierce born April 27 1860 in Columbus Township Iowa left a wife three sons and a large circle of relatives. The procession included a special Atlantic train carrying about sixty Masons Odd Fellows and Modern Woodmen to the service and burial with full honors.
