Wiota Cemetery Association ladies will hold their regular annual meeting at the M E church of Wiota on Wednesday March 8 1898 at 3 p m sharp. All interested in cemetery improvement are urged to attend by order of the secretary.

J B Rockafellow in Des Moines on business yesterday. Geo Penne conducts business on the north branch. Father Daly visits Adair in church work. Anita Republican marks fourteenth birthday. John W Fowble of Atlantic secures pension of 36 monthly. Encyclopedia 28 volumes for sale at Fred Alexanders. Mrs Keelan of Extra visits her parents Mr and Mrs Chas Litterst. Temperature swings persist as below zero last night. Engineer Love reports cold at waterworks. Miss Addie Antrim returns from Orosha to see Miss Sallie Neimeyer. Attorneys F J Macomber and Chas Higgins attend to legal matters in Griswold. Bert Lynch returns to Oakland after visiting a seriously ill father. E F Stone Wm Johnson and Chas Lansing of Anita in city to interview county clerk on legal papers. Prof C C Cole slowly improving from a fall and aims to return to duties Monday as high school principal. Brick chimney at Downs store blew off last night covering sidewalk. no injuries reported.

The Danish Brotherhood held an evening at Vetter hall with a large audience from nearby towns. The military play Soldaterloir featured Harold Hansen and others and drew applause. A second act tableau Faith Hope and Charity impressed, culminating in a humorous termezzo and a final tableau The Maine before a social dance lasting until early morning.
