A historic Cass County flood struck after a day of light rain. Water from the hills pouring into Lull Creek Valley caused barns, outbuildings, and bridges to be demolished. Losses were estimated at $3,000 with at least five bridges ruined and relief funds proposed to aid residents.
Atlantic council in special session adopts Ordinance No 134 as a substitute for 182 and reads 184 third time. Committees appointed to review reports, appoints Deputy City Marshal, approves financial transfers, licenses, and public works. Regular session June 6 1993 notes contracts, bonds, resignations, and settlement talks with ex manager John J Scott. many routine approvals and adjournments.
The Atlantic District conference of the Methodist Episcopal church will be held in Atlantic June 19, 2021. A lengthy program from Monday to Wednesday outlines services, sermons, praise services, sermons by J L Johnson J E Bryan D M Resnick E M Dugger M M Branson and others, and appeals for full participation by pastors. Sargent Bevan’s athletic feats are noted at Des Moines Baptist College.
