City Council Meeting Shows Donation Of Utilities To YMCA

The city council met in regular session with mayor and all councilors present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Officers reports were read and filed. Dr. Wilkin of the YMCA asked for water and electric lights for the YMCA rooms for 1908. Councilman White moved to donate both lights and water, carried with Dicker voting no.

Hal Egbert and Elmer E Fisher hosted friends for Miss Cora Dye of Des Moines, who stayed at Hal's home, and eight couples joined four tables of crokinole with refreshments.

Taxpayers urged to mail land tax orders to county treasurer

Interest to tax payers. Those paying first part of 1897 tax may mail a card or letter with their order and land description to the County Treasurer. Receipts will be ready by the last of March. Unclaimed receipts after March end will be cancelled and interest charged. T. W. Brown, Treasurer. A stock train from Conner Bluffs to Chicago will run starting tomorrow, stopping at Geneseo for feeding, four days a week to aid stock trade between Council Bluffs and Atlantic.
