Wed. notes on residents trips illness and visits including Allison Taylor marriage license and Hawks Walker wedding at Extra Congregational church. urges public notices on telephone proposal, tournament funds, and deputy marshal appointments amid windy four below temperatures.
The notice thanks neighbors and friends for kindness during Ada B. Saxe illness and after death. It also thanks Mrs. Mary Saxe and family for sympathy, and mentions further notices about cattle sale, a Clydesdale stallion, a duck, land lease, and exchange options in Wiota and Yale, Iowa. Correspondence invited.
The city council met in regular session with mayor and all councilors present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Officers reports were read and filed. Dr. Wilkin of the YMCA asked for water and electric lights for the YMCA rooms for 1908. Councilman White moved to donate both lights and water, carried with Dicker voting no.
Mrs Love of Wiota and Dr Miller of Audubon visit Atlantic while several locals travel to Des Moines Crieghton and Harlan. Folk entertain at the opera house as Council Bluffs and Des Moines posts and the new Bundy clock arrive in Atlantic.
An old newspaper ad advises curing a cold in one day with Laxative Bromo Quinine Tablets. It promises money back from all druggists if it fails to cure the cold. The small print notes a five cent price and a dubious claim.
The Cherry sisters performed part of their act last evening but an early ending cut the program short. The M E church meetings draw many, with 7 pm services and Bible readings. Hal Egbert and Elmer E Fisher hosted friends for Miss Cora Dye of Des Moines, who stayed at Hal's home, and eight couples joined four tables of crokinole with refreshments.
S. F. Fritz of 677 Sedgwick Street Chicago suffered a severe lung cough after trying many remedies and doctors. He reports rapid relief after using Foley's Honey and Tar, noting improved sleep, cessation of blood spitting, and full recovery after a second bottle, claiming it saved his life. Vic Emmert & Co.
Fragments report a threatened membranous croup for Rev. Dudley's infant, trips by L D Thomas to Jefferson City for Legal Adjustment Co, and visits by Miss Ella Reynolds, G W Boatright, Mrs Statzel, and others. Included are marriage licenses for two couples, social events at the Downs home, notices of burglar-guard measures, and a garden of small-town happenings with guests from Griswold and Denver.
In six weeks in Crefeld Germany the writer notes a city of 110000 with old fortifications replaced by broad streets and parks. Protestant and Catholic heritage mix, churches fill with singing worshippers, and monuments to Moltke and Sedan adorn North Wall. Silk and velvet loom industries shape wealth, while markets on Ostwall reveal enduring peasant trade and daily street life. The Rhine nearby serves as a commercial river rather than scenic backdrop.
Advertises Dr Agnew's Ointment to cure eczema tetter salt rheum barber's itch and other skin diseases. Claims relief in a day and quick cure with applications for piles and itching. Priced at 25 cents and sold by J Nichols and Palmer Findley.

Interest to tax payers. Those paying first part of 1897 tax may mail a card or letter with their order and land description to the County Treasurer. Receipts will be ready by the last of March. Unclaimed receipts after March end will be cancelled and interest charged. T. W. Brown, Treasurer. A stock train from Conner Bluffs to Chicago will run starting tomorrow, stopping at Geneseo for feeding, four days a week to aid stock trade between Council Bluffs and Atlantic.
A historical advertisement offers one hundred dollars for a catarrh cure not solved by Hall's Catarrh Cure. The firm F J Cheney & Co is noted with endorsements from West Truax and Warovine Kinnan Marvin. Internal medicine claims explain the cure works on blood and mucous surfaces. Additional notices advertise Shilohs Cure and local sellers Vic Emmert and M J Davis & Son in Lewis Iowa.
