The Woodman of the World held a meeting last evening in which officers for the coming term were installed led by Howard Williams as installing officer. New officers include C. C. J. & Glass Adviser O. Wilkins Clerk C. S. Richmond Banker Fred Bishop Eschart John Minor Watchman J. A. Moreland and J. K. Haverle. The clerk’s annual report notes attendance above 63 percent and membership gains around 50 percent.
The J H C Club enjoyed an evening at Miss Josie Mead's home with a world tour theme arranged by the ladies. Participants shared lighthearted banter, playful travel anecdotes, and a casual program that emphasized ease and fellowship during the gathering in Atlantic.
The Atlantic City Band has grown to thirty members and offers fourteen uniforms coat cap and pants in good condition for 8.75 dollars each when new. Roy Nichols invites a dozen youths for a bobsled ride to his school five miles northeast of town with a literary society program. guests sang readings and enjoyed the sleighing party. A Clydesdale stallion Hercu as eight years old and a young jack eight years old 16 hands high are offered for sale or trade near Wiota Iowa. The Cass County Fair dates and locations are announced with meetings of fair associations. Private land sales and court sale notices are listed for Atlantic area Iowa including sections in Township 77 North Range 86 West and references to bidders.
A special GC R L P Ry train departs Des Moines tomorrow morning carrying Iowa legislature members. It leaves at 8 4 m and arrives in Omaha at 11 m after a three hour run. Return service will be second No 6 leaving Omaha at five in the evening.
Taxpayers wishing to pay the first part of their 1897 tax should mail a card or letter with their order and land description to the County Treasurer at once. Receipts will be prepared for pickup by the end of March. Any receipts not claimed by March 31 will be cancelled and interest charged. Drawn by T. W. Brown, Treasurer.
Yesterday Miss Lulu Harlan entertained her ladies at Maple street. Guests competed in button hole work for a silver paper knife awarded to Miss Ludwick of Grinnell. Refreshments were served. Edith Gillespie Grace Childs Tede Langdon and N. Moore helped ensure none were slighted. Later on South Laurel street boys on a bobsled caused an accident with a lumber wagon injuring Willie Gaffes. Mr Day struck the wagon causing the driver to fall. Willie was taken home by Emmett Pratt and is recovering.

Grain-O described as a delicious healthy drink that can replace coffee without its harms. It strengthens nerves and aids digestion, not a stimulant, suitable for children and adults, sold by grocers at about 15 and 26 cents.
Passengers arriving at Chicago by the Chicago Rock Island Picilla Bay can reach any part of the city via the new Union Elevated Loop or be taken to downtown stores for five cents. A Rock Island Line train stops at the Rock Island Station every minute. Address John Sebastian G P 4 Chicago.
