Fast Horses Runaways Plague Evening City
Two spirited horse runaways disrupted town last evening. E F Jones’s team pulled a livestock wagon across town and back, leaving the wagon near Park House, then rammed Richard Westphalen’s cart, causing damage and bruising. W C Acker Jr’s team fled beyond the bridge by the waterworks, dragging timber to the Occidental Hotel, then were captured after scattering cordwood along Third Street. Local notices mention social visits, schooling plans, and a tax sale in the courthouse.
