Banks Must Reorganize in Iowa Amid Stockholder Rule
Des Moines reports that Iowa banks with fewer than five stockholders must reorganize immediately per an attorney general opinion to Auditor Mc Carthy. The older view allowed change at next annual election, but the code operative Oct 1 requires prompt compliance with new statutes. Other items note code debates on pole tax in cities, a push to invite President McKinley to a veteran reunion, sweeping liquor-control orders in Indian Territory, and philanthropic bequests from Thomas L. Evans.
