Council Debates License Question and Closes Debate

Council Proceedings in Atlantic Board of Health April 1803

The Atlantic council met as a board of health and elected Dr L A Thomas as health physician for the year after reading the Porterfield report. A special session affirmed a purchase authorization for city departments with limited scope. Water motors were ordered cut off July 1 and the meeting adjourned.

Atlantic City Council Special Session April 19 1893 Actions

The Atlantic City council met in a special session with Mayor Whitney and councilors Eller Stier Wilkie Hodgson Southwick. Measures included selling hardwood lumber for Chestnut street cross walks, authorizing a public grounds building costing up to 50 dollars with Whitney donating 25, directing the city attorney to collect overdue bills for the electric light water fund, and adjournment.

Board of Health meeting on Bull Creek drainage and cess pools

The board, with Mayor Whitney and six council members, approved a cess pool for Everitt & Cristy to receive all drainages. Lark hotel ordered to build a cess pool. Health officer reported notices given for Bull Creek abutters and weekly slaughterhouse inspections. Southwick urged action on damp ground and burial of refuse, and a sworn public grounds employee to enforce rules until May 1, 1893. Signs for Bull Creek suggested. The meeting adjourned. Also notes on J W Reed selling Canedy tools and A C Walker promising repayment of debts after May 10.
