Pinkerton detectives search New York City pawnshops for $45,000 worth of pearls stolen from a French ship. The package contained 685 pearls with three largest between 25 and 28 grains, others 1 to 3 grains. It is alleged a Paris dealer cut the stones and the shipper did not reveal the shipment’s nature to avoid extra rates.
