AAA Men Sign Cass Farmers for Wheat Insurance

Crop insurance supervisors in Cass County begin accepting applications for the 1940 wheat crop. Farmers must insure before seeding and by September 20. Those with a wheat allotment may insure up to the allotment. non allotment farmers up to 10 acres. Last year 143 of 165 Cass County policies paid out after dry weather and chinch bugs. At Des Moines Iowa the state fair moves toward conclusions as livestock judging shows Wayland Hopley Farms Atlantic placing sixth in Aberdeen Angus calf class and fourth in May 1 to Aug 1 heifer calf group, with other entries from R E Pullin and Sons Waterloo and Joseph Golvinaux Waterloo in Guernsey and Hampshire classes. United States to Strengthen Panama Defense

The War Department announced a major plan to bolster defense of the Panama Canal zone amid Europe's crisis. A total of 46 officers and 1,029 men are ordered to move, including air corps personnel to staff 31 fast ships, with overall canal defense growing to 272 officers and 7,360 men.

Family may spend week visiting at Rudolph home

City residents Charles and Helen arrive Saturday with Miss Charlotte Noble to visit at the S H Rudolph home and with relatives. Mrs Longstreth is the former Elizabeth Rudolph.
