Robbers blew a safe at the J. M. High Company offices injuring no one. The door was drilled and torn while bedding lay before the box. Inside, $6,000 in cash and $2,000 in jewelry were untouched, leaving a puzzling outcome for investigators.
In Metter near Statesboro on November 25 seven masked men raided the home of widow Mrs M G Rollerson, beating her and her son, dousing them with water, then removing their masks. Mrs Rollerson filed warrants for assault and battery. authorities expected to serve them that day. The incident caused a public sensation with threatening talk circulating.

A county compilation by City Tax Receiver George Beauchamp reveals Atlanta's 1918 total assessments at 173,327,427, a 18.5 million increase over 1912 and far surpassing budget projections. Real and personal property lead private gains of about 14.6 million, utilities about 2 million, with a near 25 thousand unappropriated surplus. Beauchamp fights secrecy while Mayor Woodward and Council debate budget revisions and future spending as the new Finance Committee prepares.
