Captain M. C. Cohen of Company First Georgia state troops at Waynesboro has applied to the adjutant general for retirement. Captain J. C. Dempsey of Troop K has resigned to accept a seat on the governor's staff.
Washington Nov 1 The senate impeachment trial of Judge Robert W Archbald of the commerce court will begin December 4, extending into early December as the case proceeds. The high court proceedings follow formal charges filed against Archbald. The trial timing was announced amid ongoing deliberations on the matter.
In Los Angeles on November 13 Woodrow Wilson was declared the winner in California after a provisional correction. Roosevelt had led with 24 votes until a California total adjustment swung the tally, placing Wilson ahead by 51 votes. This margin marked the strongest lead for either candidate in the state over the past two days.
Trenton New Jersey November 13 The Columbia State editor and South Carolina leaders inform President elect Woodrow Wilson that admirers have purchased his boyhood home in Columbia and are remodeling it as a winter residence He recalls memories of the house and expects to keep his former room during winters there.
Joseph Kane an actor and booking agent sues Rube Marquard star pitcher for alienation of affections of Mrs Blossom Seeley also known as Mrs Kane. Kane alleges Marquard followed the actress into vaudeville and accompanied her to Atlantic City where a hotel raid occurred. The suit seeks $25,000 in the supreme court.
Chicago police seek Charles Rose, 57, who smothered his two year old daughter Beatrice and left a note claiming the killing was to avenge his wife’s alleged infidelity. The child was found with pillows over her face in bed. the mother, who feared her husband, discovered the body after a night away. Rose fled and is described as insanely jealous.
New York November 13 Jack Rose star witness in the Becker case testified at the trial of four gunmen accused of killing Herman Rosenthal. He described negotiating for the gunmen to kill Rosenthal at the urgent request of ex police lieutenant Charles Becker, as defendants entered the courtroom their bravado faded from prior blows to the defense.
The will of the late Vice President James Sherman, submitted for probate in Utica on November 13, bequeaths his entire estate, valued at about $800,000, to his wife Carrie. The document was drawn in his own handwriting on a sheet of footweap paper.
Early dawn at 126 Forrest avenue a burglar attacked plainclothes officer M O Wiley and wounded him in the abdomen with an iron bar. Wiley fired, a second officer Davis joined, the burglar fled two blocks and died en route to Grady hospital. The corpse bore the tag Charley Cook. inquest planned.
One of the state’s largest mercantile firms, Carr Boyd & Co, was placed in involuntary bankruptcy after a receiver petition was filed in federal court. Petitioners include R. T. Kemmer and The First National Bank of Gainesville. Liabilities are about 200000 with assets roughly half that. The company runs a broad network across fifteen north Georgia counties supplying farmers and small planters. The stockholders reportedly include many prominent local figures.
In Sullivan Wisconsin a coroner's jury ruled Mike Scofield dead of heart failure. A hearse carrying his coffin began to move, horses bolted when a train passed, dumping the coffin. Scofield recovered, caught the horses, and helped the driver back to town. Doctors call the incident culalepay.
Gilbert D. Raine editor and owner announces The Memphis News Scimitar will be sold within two months at public auction, with bids heard at a downtown street corner. The winner will receive the paper and its Associated Press franchise. Senator Hoke Smith comments on pie distribution and denies seeking to control Georgia patronage amid mentions of Wilson nomination and state college presidents.
William Schneider, ill and destitute in El Paso Texas, will learn he is heir to a $37 500 farm near Hoopeston Vermillion county after a probate clerk’s letter from Harry Freeman outlines the bequest from Bernhardt Berklea who died four weeks ago. The note adds that other Vermillion Iroquois county lands worth about 200 000 were left to nieces and nephews.

Craig’s divorce, after a Nashville abduction attempt and prior kidnapping and assault charges. Judge Pendleton ordered Roy Craig to appear for contempt over overdue alimony.

Sells were chosen as station sergeants amid opposition from Humphrey Johnson factions. J. E. Chandler received one Humphrey vote. Trial of Policeman Camp for drunkenness postponed due to Dr. Longino’s illness. Two supernumeraries Wells and Spradlin discharged for misconduct and drunkenness respectively.
