FINCASTLE VIRGINIA November 8 Colonel Cary Breckinridge received by parcel post a major's uniform coat and a New Testament from James Barrett of Clarendon Vermont. Items were taken from a burning Confederate wagon at Appomattox April 8 1865. Barrett had sought the owner and noted the inscription Lt Col Cary Breckinridge May 7 1864 from R H McKim. Breckinridge identified the papers and the articles were sent south.
