Three Young Negroes Hanged in Fulton County

In Wrens Jefferson County the murder of Mrs. S L Irby led to the execution of Robert Paschal George Hart and William Hart in Atlanta. The brothers and Paschal confessed and pleaded innocence, with the husband of the slain woman witnessing their deaths. The trio, the youngest hanged in Fulton County, were executed with the same rope, one after another, as the trap released at 10 16, 10 44 and 11 28 p m respectively. The husband expressed satisfaction that justice was done.

600 Miners Believed Perished In Hillcrest Mine Blast

CALGARY ALBERTA June 19 Five hundred men are believed to have perished after an explosion at the Hillcrest Collieries mine near Frank on the Crows Nest Line. Between 500 and 600 entered the mine this morning and at 9 o'clock the blast occurred. some escaped, but fears remain for those inside. Reports say 400 escaped, leaving 200 still underground as smoke pours from the shaft. Canadian Pacific officials sent a special train with nurses, doctors and supplies to the scene.

Vardon Wins British Open Title at Prestwick

Harry Vardon, an Englishman, captured the British open golf championship at Prestwick Scotland finishing with a score of 306. He dethroned last year’s champion J H Taylor who totaled 309 after a final round duel watched by about 5900 spectators. Francis Ouimet, America’s open champion and entrant, failed to contend due to persistent bad form.
