Young Planter Slain In Quarrel Over Debt

Gainesville, Ga July 13 Pete Greer a young planter of Hall County is dead after being shot by Herman Bryant another planter. The shooting occurred at Bigham Gilmer’s home near Gainesville after Bryant returned from a ride with Gilmer’s daughter. Previous trouble arose over a debt Bryant owed Greer. Sheriff Spencer jailed Bryant age 25 unmarried. Greer about 30 leaves wife and four children. A coroner's inquest will be held late this afternoon.

Four of One Family Die of Asphyxiation

HAMMOND IND July 13 The toll of deaths from an asphyxiation tragedy in a five member family rose to four as Marie Lloyd 10 and Gertrude Lloyd 12 died after a 24 hour struggle. William and Walter the two youngest children died soon after discovery by neighbors. Mrs Charles Lloyd mother remains in critical condition.
