Wreck Narrow Escape For Southern Passenger Train
Great Southern passenger train No 1 narrowly escaped a wreck when a giant pine tree fell on the track in swamps between Akron and Eutaw at 2 AM. The impact tore a coach side and damaged two others. Conductor Sam Park and Mrs Johnston of Minneola Texas and two other passengers were injured with glass cuts. County Surgeon O 4 Harrison met the train in Meridian to treat the injured as the rest of the train continued to New Orleans.
