Budget Battle Narrowly Passes Crematory Funding
City council, with Aldermen facing mayoral vetoes, approves a 75,000 crematory line item by a two thirds majority in both bodies. Mayor Woodward vows not to sign crematory checks without court approval, signaling a likely legal clash. Everett’s absence and later statements shift blame as three aldermen back the mayor against the vote.
