Spirit of Thanksgiving Reflections on Gratitude and Joy
A reflective piece on Thanksgiving faith, abundance, and true gratitude. It questions whether modern abundance dampens reverence, contrasts early American steadfast devotion with today’s luxuries, and urges continual gratitude beyond a single holiday observance. It laments pampered comforts and asserts God’s enduring love across life and beyond.
Sermon on Worship Beyond Temples and Service
Reverend Everett Dean Ellenwood urges that true worship is not confined to temples but lives in the soul and deeds. He calls for active service over grand structures and warns against pride, urging faith expressed through ballots, reforms, poverty relief, and daily acts of love toward all people.

Special to The Georgian reports Arkansas temperance groups led by the State Baptist Association have agreed on a proposed law to be sent to the January state legislature. Key provisions require glass fronts on saloons, no privacy screens, a single bar within 20 feet of the glass door, and rigorous license approval by voters and a majority of township women 18 or older. Election officials and precinct staff would be required to oppose licenses in license votes. Religious groups push campaign for passage.
