At the Anglo Venezuelan boundary arbitration session in Paris former President Harrison concluded Venezuela's case. He argued Spain's pre Dutch arrival acts gave her sovereignty over all of Galina and would have made it a province if not for Dutch intervention. He thanked his associate counsel and France for hospitality. GB counsel were warmly regarded. The tribunal rose and the award is expected Monday.
In Detroit on September 27 Mrs Theodora Reiner of 108 Catherine Street murdered two children, attempted to kill a third, then cut her wrists. Harold aged three and a three‑month baby died, a seven‑year‑old girl was dying. Morphine was given to the children before she turned on illuminating gas. Her brother found them. she remains in very precarious condition at the hospital.
A large Atlanta contingent of 300 men, led by Colonel Park Woodward, left for New York to join the Dewey celebration. They traveled in seven Seaboard coaches, without a band, and will reach Washington then Brooklyn’s Fourteenth regiment armory. The departure drew vast crowds, with meals provided by Atlanta ladies and a buoyant marching parade through Pryor and Walton streets to the depot.
