Damages Sought for Loss of Arms in Atlanta Court Case

Stockholders of the Equitable Loan and Security Company oppose a receiver in a major suit filed by Mrs. Anna Monk over a Oct last year accident on the trestle near the Southern Exposition Grounds. Monk alleges the Atlanta Railway and Power car knocked her from the trestle, severing both arms, with others injured. The petition seeks damages up to 950,000, citing gross negligence by the motorman and no safe crossing alternative. The case names Arnold & Arnold for Monk and Payne & Tye for the railway. A large group of stockholders, claiming about 20,000 in stock, object to appointing a receiver, arguing current management is satisfactory. Judge Lumpkin has made the objectors parties defendant. Also noted are assorted property transfers and a charter petition by Southern Carnival Association.
