Wilson Vetoes Postal Savings Bill Change to Deposit Limits
President Wilson vetoed a bill to raise the postal savings deposit limit to 1000 dollars, opposing a repeal of a key federal reserve act provision that restricts government funds to member banks of the system. He urged extending the deadline for nonmember banks to surrender government deposits by one year, and argued for strengthening unified federal banking oversight. The veto message argued the need to keep deposits in reserve-system banks and preserve financial stability. The note lists postmaster nominations John W. Wells of Adel and T. A. Adkiox of Vienna.

Wives Work as Children Wander LA Streets
Los Angeles September 11. Women in local stores partly support households as many workmen earn low wages. Mrs. Katherine Edson of the State Industrial Welfare Commission told the Federal Industrial Relations Commission that more wives work outside the home here than should.
