Paris September 8 Adjutant Bertin of the French aviation corps has been awarded the Legion of Honor for landing behind German lines and rescuing Adjutant Boyer who was forced to burn his own machine. Both were reconnoitering in the same direction Bertin landed miles beyond Boyer then returned under heavy fire carrying Boyer and a shell fragment in his thigh. The airship was struck many times by bullets and shell fragments.
