Prisoner Fights Officer Kilpatrick in Downtown Station
City Detective JT Kilpatrick clashed with a drunken prisoner at the police tracks after 4 PM yesterday. Both men were disfigured from the fight. the detective suffered a deep forehead wound and required a physician. The prisoner remained unnamed, uncooperative, and stayed in the dungeon overnight.

Council Honors Labor Day and adjourns until usual hour

In Hopkinsville Kentucky near Pembroke a negro festival ended in a deadly shooting when Jerry and Dangerfield Wate fired into a crowd after being forced from the grounds by manager Frank Massie. Massie died, John Tandy was shot six times and killed, and James Williams had his jaw shot off. No arrests have been made.
