Fourteen Hour Shipwreck Kills Dozens Off Grand Manan
Eastport Maine October 26 A steamer the Donaldson Ynoe Hestia bound Glasgow St John and Baltimore struck rocks off Seal Cove Grand Manan in a gale. Of about forty aboard only six survived after fourteen hours clinging to wreckage. Four of the victims were young Scotch passengers. Survivors named include Third Mate Stewart Second Engineer Morgan and Seamen Keen Mackenzie Smith and McVickar. Cause blamed on a northeasterly gale and a misread light. Continued on Page Two.
