The report notes the last body found was H Harold a sheep herder and that sheep had eaten portions of his beard clothing and boots. In New York a five story building at 29 Broadway and its contents belonging to several firms burned this morning. The losses exceed 100000.
Lincoln October 22 Beginning Tuesday W J Bryan will conduct an extensive county to county canvass across Nebraska on a special train visiting nearly every railroad town and delivering over one hundred speeches ending in Lincoln the Saturday before election He will be aided by ex Governor Altgeld The Republican effort plans equally intense canvassing with top campaigners slated for the final two weeks of the drive.
Colonel Bryan predicts Nebraska will go Democratic as he travels from Toledo to Harlan Iowa to speak and campaign for the Democratic state ticket. He asserts the Nebraska contest will be very warm and that the state will yield an increased majority for his party. He links Nebraska’s result to the national contest of 1900 and argues Nebraskans oppose the current administration’s war and foreign policy.
Atchison Kansas, October 22. Two robbers shot and killed a man and wounded another during a Doniphan store robbery. Pursuing posse encountered the fugitives six miles north of Atchison. Policeman Robert Dickerson was killed, James Hayes of Atchison wounded, and the robbers surrounded. The dead include John Brown of Doniphan.
A large audience at the Academy of Music backed a drive to honor Charles Stewart Parnell with a Dublin statue and the sale of his ancestral Dublin home. Lord Mayor Tallon and John Redmond led appeals for funds, with notable contributions from Richard Croker and Bourke Cochran.
An American officer was killed and two men wounded when Filipinos opened fire from the shore on a launch during General Lawson's Rio Chiquita expedition near San Isidro. Otis rejected Filipino requests for a peace commission, deeming proposals vague and unmilitary.

Brigadier General Funston wired the War Department accepting his appointment in the newly formed volunteer service. He will return to Kansas with the Kansas volunteers, mustered out October 26, then report to Washington for duty in the Philippines.
Washington October 2 The supreme council of Scottish Rite Masons of the southern jurisdiction completed its biennial pilgrimage to the grave of General Albert Pike late supreme commander. The service at Oak Hill cemetery followed the Magonic ritual with Representative Richardson of Tennessee presiding.
J C McBride a 33 year old convict at Stillwater prison writes to Warden Wolfer confessing a string of killings and robberies. He describes the Geneva Illinois murders of Officers Grant and McNutt in 1886 and the Buckmore woman's throat slashing near Geneva two weeks prior. He details other burglaries and a guide rock Nebraska shooting of a policeman. He seeks punishment for his crimes.
