Twenty thousand greeted William J Bryan and state Democratic candidates at Churchill Downs in Louisville for the party’s Kentucky campaign kickoff. A barbecue, speeches by ex Senator Blackburn and William Goethel, and a large Cook County Marching Club contingent framed Bryan’s address urging support for regular Democratic nominees and criticizing McKinley’s Philippine policy.
