The high court declined to weigh religious belief against legal duty, reiterating it must interpret statutes as written.
Miss Mae C Wood a Washington postal clerk traveled to New York with an attorney to block Senator Thomas C Platts marriage to Mrs Idillan T Janeway the wedding reportedly set for Thursday She threatens suit for damages claiming disguises of affection and a promised inheritance and cites a Europe trip prompted by the senator to prepare for marriage The affair involves Platts sons opposition and Wood who is highly educated and once appointed from New York to a diplomacy path.
