Dixie Highway Opened With Pageant Dedicatory Exercises
Dixie Highway is formally dedicated in Chicago with dedicatory exercises before a tour to Miami. A tableau symbolized the joining of states through which the highway passes with Miss Chicago and Miss Dixie clasping hands over a bale of cotton. New York October 11 Willa Holt Wakefield entertainer to the four hundred and originator of the pianologue is to wed. Armold Foerster of Birmingham Ala is the prospective bridegroom age 37 born in Austria never married engaged in automobile business. Wakefield born 36 in Cuthbert Ga has sung recited since childhood and was trained in English poetry. She says she was previously married and divorced in Atlanta September 5 1915 for drunkenness and cruelty. She moved to New York in 1903 where her vaudeville act became popular earning the title entertainer to New Yorks four hundred. She has performed in Atlanta and throughout Georgia. Dixie highway commission tour ends in French Lick banquet
French Lick Indiana October 11 members of the Dixie highway commission arrived for the third day of the drive from Chicago toward Miami Florida with about fifty boosters from states along the route. They stayed at the French Lick hotel where a banquet followed a directors’ meeting. A morning session will discuss the Michigan Loop proposal to extend toward Mackinaw City.
