Mayor Woodward Blocks High Salary for City Consulting Engineer
Mayor Woodward said he will not approve the Sharter amendment creating the office of consulting engineer at 3000 per year unless drastic changes are made. He wants the salary cut to 1200 and the term shortened to two years, and he suggests allowing outside compensation for extraordinary duties. Alderman Nutting introduced the measure to retain Captain Clayton, but the mayor warns against high costs and supports a two year term with reduced pay.
