Techs Meet Athletic Club at Piedmont Park in Close Game

The Atlanta Athletic Club football team and the Tech nological school line up for a closely contested game at Piedmont Park this afternoon at 3. Both squads, coached by Nai Tk and Henry Thornton respectively, arrive in strong form after weeks of practice. The two halves are 15 minutes each with a 25 cent gate admission.

Death of Mrs McCollum in Marietta at age twenty

Mrs R M McCollum wife of R M McCollum of the Western and Atlantic road died at her Marietta residence yesterday afternoon after a six month illness from consumption. She was one of Marietta’s most popular young women and her death brings universal sorrow. A special train will carry family friends to Marlette at 1 pm and return at 6 pm.

Southern Railway announces low rates for a grand carnival in Macon from October 10 to 13 1899 with round trip tickets from Atlanta valid October 10 11 and 12 with final return October 14 at 919 percent rate. H. C. Fairman Passes Away in Atlanta at Grady

Henry Clay Fairman a noted Atlanta literary figure died at Grady Hospital after a month long illness from heart trouble. He was fifty one, survived by five sons, and funeral arrangements will be announced today with the body moved to 413 Woodward Avenue for the service.

Death of Mrs L J Johnson Daughter of W B Miles

Mrs L J Johnson died at her parents home on Walton Street at 12 40 this morning after a two week illness. Before marriage she was Miss Maud Miles a noted young woman in Atlanta with many friends. Funeral arrangements not yet announced due to the late hour.

Confessed to Burglary by Milton Jones

Milton Jones, a Black man and butler for Nellie Redding, confessed to stealing a pocketbook containing 33 from Miss Redding at 66 South Jackson Street. He allegedly entered unlocked rooms, hid the book under the door steps, and later admitted guilt after initial denial. a warrant is to be sworn out today.

Cattle Disease Outbreak Reported in Halifax County

In Raleigh on October 6 the agricultural department reported a tick fever outbreak among about 2M cattle in Halifax County. Some cattle arrived from Martin County carrying ticks and spreading infection. Forty three deaths have occurred with more expected as the outbreak spreads. This is the largest in North Carolina.
