A rumor links the Duke of Devonshire’s conditional resignation to ongoing crisis delays.
Belgrade October 4 A new cabinet is formed with Premir General Grafes as foreign minister Andra Nikolkes interior minister Stajan Protics as war minister Colonel Andrejevics. Dispatches say the cabinet may resign at King Peters request but remain until the national assembly meeting. The resignations stem from policy disputes about facing the regicides. Central Grules was mentioned for probable new premier.
Buffain NY October 4 Hon Wil son S Bissell postmaster general in the Ireland administration is seriously ill. He recently returned from a long east vacation and resumed his law practice. Ten days ago he quit work but his condition was not seen as serious until May. His physician declined to confirm or deny a cancer rumor. Mr Bissell’s condition is serious. he sleeps most of the time and suffers no pain.
A tornado two miles southeast of Princeton Illinois on Saturday night killed three people and damaged substantial farm property. The victims are Mrs Charles Sherwin, Mrs Elvira Sherwin, and Miss Emma Welsh. Charles F Sherwin suffered serious internal injuries.
In St Louis on October 4 a street duel between two policemen and several Black men left Officer Edward Rice and Samuel Newby mortally wounded. Police were arresting Allen Newby on an assault charge when assailants opened fire, firing about thirty shots before fleeing. Rice and Samuel Newby were found prone on the street.
Balonica October 4 reports twenty Turkish villages burned in Razlog district with the large village Bonisko said to be destroyed and its 2,000 Turkish inhabitants killed. Also from Boha serious fighting near Demi-Kapia with Bulgarian frontier posts and refugees involved.
The Atlanta Constitution reports a fund effort begun to cover a $1000 mortgage on Patrolman Hans Drasbach’s home after his death defending citizens. Captain James W English notes the tragedy, praising Drasbach’s duty and urging public subscriptions through local papers to aid his widow and children.
In Point St Charles two men were instantly killed after contact with an electric light wire. Parent and P E Prevost operated a derrick and received the full current. The foreman, Certis, rushed to assist and also died. Prevost survived with injuries.
Atlanta is stirred by the murder of Officer Hans Drastach who died from a dagger wound, while four or five suspects are held but the killer remains at large. Authorities pushed the investigation, with a witness claiming to see the crime, and officers continuing a relentless search as the city hopes for the culprit’s capture.
