Five killed and twenty five injured in a collision between a Wisconsin Central limited passenger train and a Forty third avenue street car in Chicago. From Dannemora New York September 30 the three Van Wormer brothers are set for execution at noon for the murder of their uncle Peter A Hallenbeck. A screen will block their view of the others going to the death chamber while State Executioner Davis tests the electrical apparatus. The condemned men wrote dozens of letters, will walk to the chair with crucifixes, and the warden will read their messages. In Ohio William Jennings Bryan touring to aid the Democratic cause announced for October 6 at Napoleon Oak Harbor Sandusky and a three day stay was pared down by European trip plans. In Greenville Maggia Patterson a colored girl was run over by a Charleston and Wes’ line train.
A Georgia committee led by State School Commissioner Merritt acts to mobilize local taxation support for the McMichael constitutional amendment. The plan calls for educational campaign speakers to argue for a two thirds voting requirement for local school tax approval and to gather public interest statewide.
