Atlanta to Save $29,000 Annually with Vertical Engine
Experts say replacing centrifugal pumps with a vertical triple expansion engine at Atlanta’s pumping station could cut coal use by about 629,000 a year. With a 91,000 investment, annual coal savings would net at least 26,000, paying the cost in under four years. Will J. Sando, former Boston and New York pumping official, argues the vertical engine offers flexibility and lower operating costs versus turbine-driven centrifugal pumps.

How Tin Foil Is Made From Lead Core And Tin Coating
Tinfoil for wrapping tobacco and foods is produced by coating a lead core with tin. A tin sheet is formed with controlled thickness, then molten lead is applied and the metal is rolled to create an extremely thin sheet. The tin coating spreads with the lead to maintain an even tin layer on both sides, even when the final thickness is about 0.004 inch or less.
