J W Cohen, operator of a news wagon in Atlanta, starts a funeral fund for Buford Briley, the twelve year old boy killed when struck by a streetcar. A citywide subscription effort aims to aid Briley’s mother and cover burial costs, with five dollars pledged so far.
Buford Hailey twelve son of Mrs M A Bailey of 118 South Pryor street was struck and killed by a street car near the Whitehall street viaduct while playing with a friend. Motorman Goss reversed too late after Buford ran toward a southbound car plying the viaduct. The boy died at once and his body was taken to the Poole undertaking establishment.
Augusta observers report that a government inquiry found local slaughter pens far short of federal rules for interstate trade. A large abattoir is planned with daily capacity for 200 cattle 300 sheep and 150 hogs to meet interstate demand.
Charles C. Heath a respected West Point resident died suddenly at his home at 2 am after a night of apparent good health. The 25 year resident was noted as a public spirited and politically influential citizen. He is survived by his wife and a brother W D Heath of Fredonia Alabama.
A huge Atlanta audience at the Grand Opera House heard Jane Addams discuss organized charity and ongoing education. The crowd, diverse in class and age, filled every seat and stood in aisles. The talk urged expanded education beyond school and the creation of playgrounds for children's development.
Four girls on the destroyer Sukurai led a mutiny during the Vladivostsk revolts, killed many bluejackets, and attempted to flee to Japan with the vessel. The ship opened fire on the admiralty, exchanged shots with other vessels and forts, was run ashore to prevent sinking, and the mutineers including the four instigators were killed.
In Vladivostok on November 24, 1508 Sappers and Marines with two destroyer commanders face court martial for the mutiny of October 29 and 40. The October 20 mutiny was crushed by machine guns as sappers tried to seize a barracks, routed by loyal troops. A naval clash followed, mutineers subdued after casualties on both sides.
A bronze statue of John W. Thomas, late president of the Nashville Chattanooga and St. Louis Railroad, was unveiled in Centennial Park in Nashville. The ceremony drew between 12 000 and 15 000 attendees. The memorial, funded entirely by directors officers and employees of the N C and St L Railway, was erected by the John W. Thomas Memorial Association.

The captain's wife and child were rescued by Lewes fire crews while captain and crew remained aboard. One oilier from tug Luckenbach, William J. Walker of Grace Point Virginia, died from injuries after being struck by machinery. Other ships sought shelter, winds reached 36 to 64 mph, with minor damage reported in Atlantic City and Boston areas.
Burlington New Jersey November 24 Excitement over the murder and robbery of E B Jefferson and the later death of Policeman George Guslang by Albert Lemond subsided. Authorities believe Jefferson was robbed and murdered by two or three men who had targeted Burlington businessmen, and they say the shootings did not connect to the earlier case.
London reports renewed rumors that Kaiser Wilhelm may undergo an ear throat operation in England linked to a hereditary ailment that killed his father Frederick. The operation, described as not serious, could determine if the throat cancer rumor proves fatal as feared by court circles.
In Washington on November 24 several hundred men signified a desire to accept Christ after Fred B. Smith of New York spoke at Union Convention Hall. Smith warned against abandoning the Sabbath for pleasures and argued prosperity leads to forgetting God. Pulpits of many churches were filled by convention delegates.
