Charles Northen, longtime secretary of the Georgia senate and a prominent figure in Atlanta, died early today at his home from acute indigestion after a two hour illness. He moved to Atlanta from Perry at age 12, son of the late Henry Northen, served on the city council, and sat on the Grady hospital board. He was also a leading insurance agent with Mutual Life and a member of the Gate City Guard, Masons, and old volunteer fire departments. Survived by his wife, daughter Margaret, and son Charles S.
