Crosses of Honor Presented by Atlanta U D C
The Atlanta chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy awarded crosses of honor to Confederate veterans or descendants in the state capitol senate chamber. Judge Harry M. Reid spoke on “The Southern Cross of Honor” as crosses were presented by Mrs William McCarthy. The ceremony was brief and stirring with Civil War era songs sung.

Jury's verdict scored by judge in Dublin trial
Steve Thompkins was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in Laurens superior court for the April killing of Mrs Ella Dostan. The jury, out over eight hours, received a twenty year sentence from Judge K Hawkins who condemned sympathy in jurors and warned of murder and violence.
