Quarrel Over Drinks Triggers Fatal Club Fight
John Bray telegraph operator of Salina Georgia is dead and A S Cosby peddler held on murder charge after a quarrel over a round of drinks at the Owls club in East Mitchell and South Pryor streets. Frank Woodliff solicitor arrested on suspicion. Cosby fought Bray after Cosby had been suspended for 30 days for disorderly conduct. Police arrived to find Bray dead, Cosby detained, and a pistol with three spent shells recovered in an alley. Bray’s death ends a six month friendship said to have soured over a card game at the club. Bray leaves a widow and three brothers.
