In Montgomery on November 19 the senate chamber saw women and children fill the gallery as opposing voices argued over a statutory prohibition. The crowd surged toward entrances and the scene included threats and protests as lawmakers debated passage and possible delay into January 1909.
James J. Amm, chief of the Great Northern, told the Commercial Club banquet in Washington that rail facilities lag behind business, credit is shaken, and more lines and double tracking are needed to meet demand. He urged policy to restore investor confidence and warned against political strikes harming railroad growth and farm prices.
The Ninth annual meeting of the International Order of Rong Dang was adjourned tonight with officers elected. Dignitaries from New Orleans and Wheeling attended, including Mss Jeni and Sis Alia Garret. The event in Portantan saw candidates chosen for leadership roles and honors awarded to several members.

The Georgia Railroad Commission session on the Southern Bell case ended with Chairman McLendon retreating to confer with the governor. The secret remedy discussed between the chairman and Mr Thompson remains undisclosed, with no further details shared by the governor or railroad presidents. Pensacola reports heightened alert as warnings from Washington trigger full naval readiness. Warships and anchors deployed to avert a repeat of the 1906 disaster, following a forecast of a heavy Gulf Coast storm. November 19.
Miller, owner of a negro restaurant on Decatur Street, was arraigned in recorder's court after a customer presented a $5 clearing house certificate for a 10 cent lunch and Miller returned $4.86 in change. Miller claimed no insult to the certificate and apologized, paying 5 cents and receiving a lecture.
November 19 report notes Justice Groorman denying Katherine Clemmons Gould’s motion to vacate an order for the examination of Helen Mer. Miss Mer, London resident, awaiting trial in New York, is expected to testify on Clemmons Gould relation to Buffalo Bill Cody. The filing claims prior to marriage Clemmons claimed good character and meretricious Cody ties. Temperatures forecast with a Georgia rain, then warmer southeast, colder in the northeast.

The courtroom crowd watched as she described affection, manipulation, and her emotional struggle, with jurors approvingly noting her condition as she prepared to continue testimony.
