Atlantic City dispatch reports Mrs. Nettie Gill a 40 year old widow formerly of Manta commit suicide using laudanum after severer nervous illness. She left letters to friends describing neglect by a son and poverty while she cared for an invalid in Philadelphia and Washington. A search for her son Allan E. B. G. followed. money for burial was not received.
Mrs Ga was well known in Atlanta having lived here many years. She previously served as stenographer for Bimmons Carrigan attorneys at law and later for Haralson's tobacco house. She made many acquaintances and had close friends during her long residence, with the narrative continuing on page.
Washington November 16 The protest by Captain Briscoe and Lieutenant Williams over Admiral Evans language in the Nicholson court case prompts War Department and Navy reviews. Secretary Moody intends to return findings to Evans, dismiss the protest, and warn against repetition.
A federal grand jury in Omaha indicts United States Senator Charles J. Dietrich and Hastings Postmaster Jacob Fisher on charges of conspiracy and bribery connected with Fisher’s postmaster appointment. Indictments allege Dietrich accepted money and property to back Fisher’s Hastings postmaster bid. Fisher allegedly paid $800 cash and arranged a $1,300 deal. Evidence includes Fisher buying post office fixtures and handing them to Dietrich’s building, with rental payments to the senator. The case, tied to post office appointments, prompts ongoing investigations and political contention, including remarks by Fisher and Rosewater in Washington.

E F Zemp cashier of the Farmers and Merchants bank Camden shoots himself after learning of Colonel E B Boykin president’s death. The bank may close for a day while directors investigate. Boykin, U S marshal for the state, died by accidental self-inflicted gunfire while attempting to shoot a hawk. He led DeKalb cotton mill and other firms and was a prominent Camden figure and 1884 national Democratic convention delegate.
