Convention Fund Crisis Faces Atlanta Delegates

Atlanta organizers plead for 2000 dollars and 600 homes to host visiting delegates amid critics disputing funding. Mrs Patterson appeals via press for local contributions and home hospitality for Evangelical Ministers and WCTU delegates, while ministers deny binding guarantees.

Ministers dispute Patterson plan to invite national convention

The Evangelical Ministers association debated Mrs Patterson’s proposal to bring the national convention to Atlanta. A committee chaired by Dr HM Dubose examined the plan, denying authority to guarantee funds or homes for 1009 delegates. Dr John E White defended the association, stating no binding pledge or guarantee was made by the group.

Ministers’ association denies bond for Patterson affair

The ministers’ association would stand responsible for 4000 to defray convention expenses but Dr HM DuBose, chair of the fund committee, refused to discuss the controversy. Several ministers said he overstepped authority and that the committee only endorsed bringing the no Monel convention to Atlanta and extending an invitation. Eleven city church ministers attended the Friars club meeting where Mrs Patterson’s statement was discussed and a dignified effort to aid the convention was pledged. Names include Dr Bricker, Dr Dunbar Ogden, Dr Lyons, De A Gordon, Dr Kendrix, Dr Little, Dr Shipman, and Dr Major.
