A German officer Lieutenant von Meyerick hanged himself in his Hanover cell after a recent gambling fraud trial conviction. He was a distinguished officer of the Launcher cavalry decorated with the order of the Red Eagle.
New York reports Corbett and Mitchell near a New Orleans bout with signed articles of agreement. The Olympic Club offers a $25,000 purse but training expenses of $2,500 each are sought. Incentives, timing, and referee details are outlined, with Jacksonville noted as a possible alternate site.

Greenville Miss November 6 Colonel W D Hill a veteran Washington county resident working levee duties on the Arkansas side fifteen miles below Greenville killed his nephew Fowler at his levee camp Saturday after a dispute. Fowler drew a pistol first but Hill fired three times ending Fowler's life.
A brick Brookhaven courthouse, once the site of a white cap attack on the jail and heroism by Judge Chrisman, was burned last night destroying all records. The court was due to meet there this morning, marking the second courthouse blaze in ten years.
